GIFT AID SCHEME
Believe me, this is now so simple….
It used to be called the Covenant Scheme, and this form of planned giving has been operating within the Diocese for over 30 years. It provides a pain-free and valuable source of income for parishes in the Diocese.
St. Bede’s receives around £2,800 each year from the Inland Revenue by way of tax reclaimed from the weekly offerings of those who are members of the Scheme. If you make a donation of £1.00 this will allow us to reclaim 28p from the Inland Revenue. At the moment, around 50 members of the Parish participate in the Scheme. I am also aware that there are many more parishioners who do not pay tax but who do use the envelopes for your weekly donation. The parish benefits from your donations, and I am most grateful for them.
The more parishioners who make use of the Scheme, the better for the parish.
To participate in the Scheme an individual must be a taxpayer. Such an "individual" can now extend to a member of your household.
Tax paid can be in the form of basic rate income tax, tax deducted by Banks/Building Societies from interest on savings or tax deducted from dividend payments. All you have to do to join is to sign a simple declaration on a form issued by the Diocese. It used to be rather complicated, it is now so easy.
The Scheme provides the Parish with a very useful form of income and at no additional cost whatsoever to yourself. If you are not a member of the Scheme and you are a taxpayer, I invite you to consider joining it. You lose nothing and the parish benefits enormously. Paul Henderson will be happy to answer any queries you may have. He will also be able to give you a declaration form along with a set of envelopes for your weekly offerings.
Please do give this note your consideration. Many thanks
